‘My appreciation for the fact that a student’s academic progress would stagnate if it were not for a varied enrichment programme and steadfast pastoral support has made me the Housemaster I am today. There is so much to learn from these students. Teaching for me is an exchange of knowledge; I teach them the Politics syllabus and they teach me about their culture and identity. We all come out the richer for it.’
Tauhida’s undergraduate study in Politics at Queen Mary, University of London in Politics gave her subject knowledge; completing teacher training at the Institute of Education, UCL, taught her how to impart that knowledge to young people in an effective and varied manner. She has worked in local politics and is a trained immigration lawyer.
However, it is teaching that has shown Tauhida where her strengths lie. She taught at a successful international school in Mayfair, where she was firstly the Head of the GCSE provision at the school, and then went on to lead the upper 6th UCAS programme, before moving to Abbey College Cambridge and taking up the post of Housemaster of Neptune House and Teacher of Politics.
Outside school Tauhida enjoys running and reading extensively, as well as travelling to different countries and experiencing new cultures with her family.
