Last week we intriduced a new house competition – Art. The competition brought together talented students from Years 9 to 13 for a creative and lively challenge. Each Housemaster sat for a 40-minute portrait session, where students were tasked with capturing their essence and style using white chalk, charcoal, and cartridge paper. With eight houses; Neptune, Jupiter, Apollo, Athena, Zeus, Hera, Minerva, and Juno- competing, the event showcased an incredible range of artistic interpretations, from traditional portraiture to imaginative character studies. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, and it was a joy to see the diverse outcomes, each reflecting the students’ creativity and skill.
The competition was judged by our very talented art technician and artist, Guilia Quaresima who herself has recently been on Portrait – Sky Artist of the Year. She commended the students’ efforts and creativity.
In first place was Apollo House with a striking portrait by Hantong, followed by Jupiter’s Flora in second place, and Neptune’s Apollo in third. Zeus House claimed fourth place with Kelly’s work, while Hera, Athena, Juno, and Minerva followed, represented by Alina, Volver, Emma, and Dawn, respectively. Additionally, three students Pongkhun, Albert, and Hannah, received high commendations for their exceptional entries. The quality and diversity of the artwork made for an inspiring event, highlighting the artistic talent within our school community.
