Senior Maths Challenge Success

At Abbey Cambridge we provide opportunities for students to stretch themselves and take the knowledge they have learnt in the classroom and apply it to different situations.
This half term, we had 94 students from years 10-13 participate in the UKMT Intermediate and Senior Mathematics Challenges. This prestigious competition aims to stretch and challenge students interested in Maths, and provides an excellent experience for anyone wishing to taking their studies beyond the syllabus.
Abbey Cambridge has had exceptional results with this challenge in previous years, and this year is no exception. Overall our students received:
24 Gold Awards
17 Silver Awards
31 Bronze awards
77% of students acheived an award overall.
This is an amazing achievement by our students as they were competing against the UK’s best Mathematics students and across the country only 11% of those taking part receive a Gold award and 66% receive awards overall.
We are details that six students have qualified for the Senior Maths Olymipad and a fruther 19 who have qualified for the Sebior Kanagroo. Both competitions will be held in November.
